Queen Mary's Port is the name of the new subdivision that is approved to be developed off of Capitol Landing Road in Williamsburg.  The land consists of slightly over 28 acres. and is approved for 41 lots.

William McDaniel, who is involved in the property development said they envision a Colonial-inspired village on the land.  Though he has developers in mind for the project, he would like for real estate conditions to improve before breaking ground.  Once a project if approved, it is good for five years - so stay tuned!

The Golden Horseshoe Brings Back the Caddie!

by Deelyn Neilson

It has been over 40 years since caddie's have walked the 18 holes of The Golden Horseshoe...but Colonial Williamsburg's famous course is bringing them back, effective August 1, 2011.

Merriam Webster dictionary defines a caddy (or caddie!) as: one who assists a golfer especially by carrying the clubs.

Caddies at The Golden Horseshoe will do that, and then some!  They will be trained and tested by PGA Golf Professionals, and they will have knowledge of golf etiquette, as well as the rules of the game, and the use of various clubs.

The Golden Horeshoe asks that you let them know if you would like to use a caddie when you book your tee time - to do so, you may call 757.220.7696.

Be a Part of a Great Event: Grove Summer of Love!

by Deelyn Neilson

Have you heard about the amazing charitable event coming up in August?

Grove Summer of Love is an idea that Monica Sigmon (local extraordinary photographer)  came up with to shine the light on one of the neediest areas in Williamsburg.

Monica is going to donate a family portrait to all members of the Grove area - something she feels is very important to have, and that members of this community otherwise could not afford.

Many other local businesses and professionals in Williamsburg have decided to offer their time and services to help support this great cause.

The event will take place on August 6th - so mark you calendars!  The details are still be laid out - but bouncy houses, and a fabulous cookout are already guaranteed!  It is free to the whole community, and it will surely be a great day filled with fun!

To find out more about this great event, go to:

There are many opportunities to help!

Donations of gently used clothing are being accepted by The Carousel in Merchants Square - some of these clothes will be used for parents and children in their family portraits - what a great thing to be involved in!
