Port Anne is a distinguished and elegant community within walking distance to The College of William and Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. Over 100 homes are built in the wooded, rolling landscape situated on College Creek. A thriving homeowner's association hosts regular social events, and amenities include a pool, clubhouse and tennis courts. The clubhouse also features guest rooms, available for a reasonable nightly rate for out of town visitors of residents.  

 

History: Port Anne was a major trade port for the area, even before the establishment of the city of Williamsburg in 1699. Several sites in the Port Anne community have been excavated, unearthing housing, graves, pottery and trash pits. Many of the uncovered artifacts were dated to the first half of the seventeenth century, but one Indian site was dated around 1000 A.D.

About the homes: Development began in the late 1980s, with construction continuing until 2006. Some buildable lots are still available for sale. There are over 100 homes in the Port Anne community. Home sites range in size from 0.25 acres to 0.50 acres. Square footage of homes is typically between 2,000 and 4,000 square feet, and some homes have basements. Most homes are valued between $350,000 and $650,000.

Schools: Residents attend Williamsburg-James City County schools including Matthew Whaley Elementary, Berkeley Middle and Lafayette High. The College of William and Mary is within walking distance.

Commuting: Convenient for commuters, Port Anne is just 25 minutes from Fort Eustis, 45 minutes from Langley Air Force base and one hour from Richmond. Colonial Williamsburg is within walking distance, as is a variety of shops and restaurants.
